Lillian Agnes Jones Fellowship at the Whyte Museum of the Canadian Rockies

in 2022 Amanda & the co-mentors applied for the Lillian Agnes Jones Fellowship at the Whyte Museum. This fellowship awards winners dedicated time in the archives as well as $6,000, and in-kind support for research from the staff of the Whyte. Have a look at our work below...

We were awarded the fellowship for fall 2022. The project included Amanda, Jace Baptiste, Kes Lefthand, Giona Smalleyes Chey Suwâtâgâ Mû, Amber Twoyoungmen, & Kelsey Twoyoungmen.

We made one trip to the Whyte in September to get our bearings and meet the folks we'd be working with at the museum. Then we went back twice in October and twice in November to learn and explore. In addition to spending time in the archives, we also looked in the collections and the historic houses.

Here is some information about our project from the Whyte.

Anyone with a research interest can apply for the Fellowship at the Whyte Museum. Keep up to date on their website here

The fellowship requires two written documents and one presentation. Read the final project report here. Read the shorter report, in the form an an article for the Carin (the Whyte's newsletter) here. Members of the team will be reporting the findings in September 2023 at the Whyte Museum on the 21st and the Banff Centre on the 20th (as part of the annual conference of the Universities Art Association of Canada).
